Zoho CRM

General-purpose CRM · Zoho Corporation · www.zoho.com/crm

A mature, inexpensive, very configurable general-purpose CRM with an enormous surrounding product suite. It knows nothing about insurance out of the box — every policy, renewal and commission concept is something you model yourself using custom modules.

What it costs

Free edition for up to 3 users. Standard $14, Professional $23, Enterprise $40 and Ultimate $52 per user per month on annual billing; month-to-month billing runs higher on every tier.

Trial and access: Free edition plus free trials on paid tiers, no sales call required.

Who it suits

  • Agencies with an in-house builder or a Zoho partner
  • Teams already standardised on Zoho One
  • One- to three-person shops that can live on the free edition
  • Owners who want a cheap base and accept doing the insurance build-out

What it does well

  • Among the lowest per-seat costs of any serious CRM, with a genuinely usable free tier for a 3-person shop.
  • Deep customisation: custom modules, workflow rules, scripting and a large integration marketplace.
  • Very large body of documentation and independent third-party training on YouTube.
  • Self-serve from signup to production — you never have to speak to anyone.

Where it falls short

  • No insurance data model. Households, policies, carriers, renewals and commissions are all custom work.
  • The build-out is the real cost: expect either significant internal time or a paid implementation partner.
  • Telephony, SMS and compliant client messaging come from other Zoho products or third parties, each priced separately.
  • Feature gates push serious automation toward the Enterprise tier.
